Law Firm Client Matters

Written by paulw. Posted in M3i, PaperCut, PaperCut MF, PaperCut NG, selectec News

Here in the UK the popular choice amongst Law Firms is to use Elite from Thomson Reuters. Elite is a premier provider of financial and practice management systems to the legal industry and to other professional services markets including accounting, marketing services and management & IT consulting. We have developed an application to automatically synchronise Elite client matter codes with PaperCut’s Shared Accounts in order to make billing customers easier. We also have the ability to import the costing from PaperCut into Elite so everything you need to bill your client is in one place.

Of course we do not discriminate against other Law Firm software, so if you are not using Elite but still require an interface with PaperCut in order to have uniform and timely updates of your Shared Accounts or Matters, then let us know.

PaperCut Installation Demo

Written by rossm. Posted in M3i, PaperCut, selectec News

We recently tested a lot of screen capture software for the purpose of creating demos of PaperCut and our in house m3i solution. After a few weeks of trying the software options on the first page of Google search results we ended up purchasing Demo Builder. Below is our first attempt, so be nice!

The timing, colours and a few other bits ‘n’ bobs need to be worked on (must remember to turn off mouse clicks!) After creating one I think future videos may contain commentary rather than all the writing as I feel people go into more detail and offer little tips while speaking. It depends how bad our voices sound in the real world. I expect our next go (migrating from NG to MF) will be even more awesome.

If you do watch it I suggest going full screen and 720p - and grab a cuppa!

Improved Accessibility of Access Module

Written by admin. Posted in M3i, selectec News

Prior to its launch, Ricoh submitted the m3i Access Module to the Human Systems Engineering Branch (HSEB) of Georgia Tech to see how it would fare against their Section 508 tests. The software itself achieved a Fully Supports compliant status itself. When added to Ricoh MFDs, it improved the compliant status of Ricoh to Supports with Exceptions. However, HSEB did suggest some areas where it could be made more compatible with certain of the assistive technologies they were using in their testing and we have addressed some of these in the latest version.

The change which will probably have the most effect  going forward is the implementation of ARIA mark-up which will improve compatibility with text-to-speech applications such as Jaws. Other minor enhancements have been made in respect of compatibility with Magic Screen Magnifier, Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Windows High Contast Mode. Greater detail can be found on the developer blog here.

The nice people at officeproductnews wrote an article about our m3i project.

Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced the availability of Select Technology’s m3i Access Module to the Ricoh channel through the Ricoh Independent Solutions Vendor Program (RiSVP). Exclusively available to Ricoh, the m3i Access Module is an innovative user interface that allows users to control Ricoh multifunctional products (MFPs) remotely in circumstances when using the MFP’s own touchscreen is either not convenient or not possible. While intended to improve accessibility for all users, the interface has been developed to be of special benefit to people in wheelchairs or those with visual impairments. No dedicated hardware is required, just a browser and a network connection, and no software installation is required on external devices.
